Powder coating is a finishing technique that has been around since the 1960’s and has become increasingly popular over the last few years. This finishing method is not only easy on the eye, it also is known to be extremely durable, hard-wearing and is virtually resistant to chipping, fading and scratching in comparison to other finishes. Both consumers and industries have the pleasure of being able to use this decorative finish on almost anything! It can be used on most everyday products such as fridges, gates, prams, tractors... the list is endless!
Benefits of Powder Coating
• Powder coating is significantly more environmentally friendly compared to other finishing methods, such as regular paint. Regular wet paint contains chemicals which are harmful and have a negative impact on the ozone layer, and also have to be disposed of in a suitable way due to these chemicals. Since there are no solvents or VOCs in this product, there’s no damage done to the environment when applying. These solvents in wet paint can also be harmful to the applier, such as irritation in the nose, mouth and throat. However, with powder coatings this is not an issue.
• Using wet paint is more time consuming than using powder coatings, as most regular paints take a long time to dry and often need more than one coat, whereas powder painting normally only requires one coat and takes less time to dry.
• Powder coating is available is a wide range of perfect finishes.
